Hiya. As a kid, waking up to snow on the ground felt like winning the lottery. Most kids were thinking about tobogganing or playing shinny on the pond. Not this guy. I had one simple question on my mind: “Can I shovel your driveway for ten bucks?”
Adjusting for inflation—and polar vortexes—I figure my rate today would be about ten times what it was back in 2005.
Are the days of pushing wooden shafts up and down driveways behind us? Maybe. But is that such a bad thing? Personally, I don’t think I’ll ever miss the plastic-handle gut punch that comes from catching the lip of the sidewalk with speed.
