How’s it going everyone! Wait a second, is this thing on? *taps mic* 🎤

We are officially in that magically time of year where the drive up Highway 11 looks like something straight out of a Group of Seven painting. Soak it in, because the snow will arrive soon enough.

Cottage Closing with Cottage Rules

Pass down your cottage knowledge before closing day

Source: Cottage Rules

Closing weekend is when dozens of small, property-specific routines come back into focus: draining water lines, shutting down systems, storing boats and equipment, checking the septic, noting repairs for spring and remembering the order everything needs to happen.

This year, don’t just do the jobs. Capture them while they are fresh. Add the steps, photos and reminders to Cottage Rules so next spring, or the next person taking responsibility for the cottage, doesn’t have to start from memory.

A good closing protects the cottage for the winter. Writing down how you did it helps protect the knowledge behind the cottage for years to come.
